The Tennessee RV Center/Herald Newspaper Sevier County Player of the Week for week seven of the high school football season is Sevier County High School senior quarterback Phillip Chaney.
Though Chaney didn’t put up huge numbers in his first game back from a wrist injury, his return to the Smoky Bears’ lineup could be extremely valuable. The 6-5, 190-pound senior missed five of his team’s first six games with the injury and saw his first snaps since the season-opener Friday night in a Bears 34-8 win over region rival Campbell County. Chaney threw two touchdown passes in the game, a 17-yarder to Corey Brandenburg and a 76-yarder to Trey Pippen.
Chaney and the Bears play a huge region game Friday night when they host Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett.
