Shandan Leigh Notgrass, a junior from Heritage High School, Maryville, TN. is packing her suitcase for Atlanta and New York. The Heritage High School junior, auditioned in April, before a crowded room of 200 hopeful candidates for a lead role in a soap opera being filmed in Atlanta the first week of June. The soap is called “MISTY” and has been aired on cable channels in Georgia and North Carolina for the past two years. Mr. Gaye, the shows director and producer, was so impressed with Notgrass’s audition that he was overwhelmed when he found out that she had no formal training. He stated, “She is an absolute natural in front of a camera.” Notgrass will have four taped episodes under her belt before the decisions are made to syndicate the show. The storyline will cast Shandan as an incoming model with Dijonay Fashions. This is the first segment to her role and we can only wait to see what happens.
Notgrass, the 16-year-old daughter of Don & Sharma Floyd of Seymour and Dan & Jamie Notgrass of Powell, has recently finished filming a promotional video for the Sevierville Chamber of Commerce with Ego Talent. The video will be aired nationwide and was produced by Cinemarr Entertainment of Sevierville and directed by Shane Marr. Plans are also in the works for Notgrass to work on several upcoming projects with Cinemarr Entertainment. She stated “this was so much fun to do, how can I call it work?”
Represented by Mr. Rodney Daniel of Triple Platinum Entertainment in Dallas, Texas, Notgrass was chosen to participate in the ESPN X-Games in Atlanta this past weekend. She represented Circuit City and Oakley Sunglasses. Daniel stated that “this is a big step for her career since it is her first paying job.” Daniel has plans for Notgrass to visit New York as soon as details are completed with MTV’S casting director. Notgrass choreographed her own modern hip-hop dance routine which has earned her an audition with MTV.
Gary Woods of Gary Woods Photography has been a vital part of Shandan’s career. Her mother, Sharma Floyd stated, “that without having awesome pictures, it would have been impossible for her to get all the recent attention. I have to give him the credit he deserves. Numerous offers have been made to do her photos, but Gary Woods and his staff are our only choice”. When asked about Notgrass’s new endeavors, Floyd replied “I am so excited for her, I spend most of my days now answering e-mails and phone calls for upcoming jobs.”
