The TBI is assisting various law enforcement agencies regarding a series of armed robberies. TBI is requesting any information and assistance in an attempt to solve these armed robberies, which have occurred in East Tennessee since October 2001.
On October 28, 2001, a male suspect entered the Whole Sale Food Outlet in Jefferson City, Tennessee. The subject was wearing an old man “rubber type” mask and brandishing a handgun equipped with a laser sight. The subject is described as 6’0” to 6’2”, weighing approximately 200 pounds.
Similar robberies have occurred on October 29, 2001 at the Super Dollar Store in Dandridge, Tennessee; December 13, 2001 at the Hometown Grocery Store in Tazwell, Tennessee; December 22, 2001, at the Bi-Rite Market AJ Highway in Knox County, Tennessee; December 29, 2001, at the Food City Store in Loudon, Tennessee; April 27, 2002, at the Food City in Elizabethton, Tennessee; as well as White’s Food Stores in Unicoi County, Tennessee the following weekend.
Each of these robberies share similar characteristics in that a lone individual wearing a rubber mask entered the store armed with a handgun equipped with laser sight.
