Fourteen reported vehicle break-ins occurred in Sevierville between June 19, 2002 and June 23, 2002, at various locations. According to Sevierville Police Department reports, the break-ins took place during daylight hours, between 1:00p.m. and 8:00p.m.
The break-ins have occurred at the following locations: Reel Theaters on the Parkway; Governor’s Crossing; Five Oaks Mall; Smoky Mountain Knifeworks; Wynn’s; Golden Corral; HHI; Mr. Gatti’s Pizza and Wal-Mart.
The break-ins have resulted in the theft of items such as purses, cell phones, ATM cards, personal checks, CD’s and tools. According to reports, the perpetrator(s) entered the vehicles by breaking a side window or opening unlocked doors. Sevierville Police Captain Don Myers cautioned drivers to secure their vehicles, even in the daytime hours.
“Be sure not to leave pocketbooks and other valuables in sight within the vehicle. Either take these items with you or place them out of sight, such as in the trunk,” added Myers. The Sevierville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division is investigating the break-ins.
