The Lady Vols won their final exhibition game past weekend as Shanna Zolman, Shyra Ely and Gwen Jackson all scored 15 points to pull off 95-76 Tennessee win.
“I thought in the first half, we played inspired defense,” Coach Pat Summitt stated. “We ran the ball well, and for the most part, I was pleased.”
UT took an early lead and it did not diminish as the play continued. Zolman and Ely swished in some buckets with Zolman adding a three-pointer just before halftime with a mid way score of 52-24.
During the second half, the Premiere Players put up more of a fight and utilized strong play from Arkansas guard Wendi Willits. The Premier Players shot 58.1% from the field in the second half and hit 11-of-14 free throws cutting the margin down to only a nineteen-point spread.
The Lady Vols will go on the first road trip of the season next weekend for a match-up pitting the nations top two programs. The second ranked Vols will go up against the #1-ranked Duke Blue Devils in the Jimmy V Classic on Nov. 24, at 2:00 p.m.
UT will the return home to host the George Washington Colonials at the Thompson-Boling Arena on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 7:00 p.m.
