Basketball is over for the Seymour Community Christian Commanders, but the cheerleaders are already preparing for next season. The “Commander Elite” are planning to attend cheerleading camp this summer and are practicing weekly after school. The school is very proud of these young ladies under the training and sponsorship of Mrs. Missy McCormick, a graduate of SCCS and former cheerleader. She has taught the girls more than just cheering. She has encouraged them to be young ladies who represent their Lord and their school. Missy has been a wonderful role model for them to follow.
SCCS has not had a cheerleading squad in ten years. They got off to a great start this year. They not only cheered at the games but were terrific hostesses to cheerleaders from other schools. During a recent regional tournament, they provide a hospitality room for coaches and officials. The team’s only senior, Amanda King, will graduate in May. She has provided leadership for the other cheerleaders. Her beautiful smile and excitement will be missed.
