The sixth annual Louise Mandrell Smoky Mountain Run for Boy Scouts is set for Saturday, July 26 at 8:00 a.m.
Ms. Mandrell will be on hand to start the USATF sanctioned 5K Race and hand out the $10,000 in prize winnings. Overall Male, Female and Masters winners will each receive $750. Prize money will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age group, with the first place winners taking home $100 each.
The entry fee is $15 per person and includes lunch provided by Buddy’s BBQ and a race t -shirt. There is even a children’s 100-yard scuttle immediately following the 5K. Entry fee for that race is $7.00 and all children will receive a ribbon, lunch and a shirt, with the winners in each age division receiving a special prize from Diamond and Slugger of the Tennessee Smokies.
Other festivities for the morning include live music by Louise Mandrell’s band, a moon walk and obstacle course provided by A & A Party Rentals, as well as door prize drawings, with over 100 prizes donated by area businesses, and a silent auction. This year’s auction features seven area vacation packages, prints from local artists and gifts from area attractions and retail establishments. All proceeds will benefit the Boy Scouts of East Tennessee.
Participants may sign up on Friday, July 25 from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. in the theater lobby or on race day from 6:30 – 7:30 a.m.
