The April 20 job fair at Smokies Park put the class AA affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals one step further in preparations for opening night of the 2004 season.
The annual job fair was held at the stadium from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. and filled numerous positions to assist in the day-to-day operations of the club, which opens its home schedule on April 16. Smokies’ management interviewed applicants to fill an assortment positions ranging from batboy to concessions help to press box assistants.
Voice of the Smokies Tom Hart said that the turnout at the job fair was actually less than in past years, but he feels that is in no way an indication of waning interest from the community. Hart said that because a lot of past employees have returned to work at the park, there is just not as much turnover as in years past.
