Area provides a great place for the holidays

You can’t help but notice all the beautiful Christmas lights that abound Highway 66 as you drive into Sevierville. When you arrive at the city center there are many sights to see, and it takes visitors hours to take in the sights of Winterfest activities throughout the city.
As visitors drive toward Pigeon Forge the side of the road is adorned with lights that keep you in the holiday spirit along the way. Visitors are met in Pigeon Forge with bright-lighted doves crossing the road above and a hearty welcome to the city. Over five million lights adorn the Parkway and if you want you can ride the Pigeon Forge Trolley to view all the sights. A trip to Patriot Park in the heart of Pigeon Forge is a must for visitors and residents alike, as the city has gone far and above to say thank you to the troops and honor veterans for their service to the country.
Many of the attractions along the Parkway have Christmas decorations to honor the holiday including Dixie Stampede and of course one of the areas most popular destinations, Dollywood.
You have to take the drive back to Dollywood, which celebrates the holidays with shows and lights in the park.
When you leave the lights of Pigeon Forge you travel the dark “spur” to Gatlinburg, but rounding the corner driving into the city you are immediately struck with the bright welcome to the city with lights starting at the edge of city. Millions of lights go into getting Gatlinburg ready for the season and it will take visitors hours to cruise the city either on foot or in a car to take in Winterfest activities. Every attraction and shop in town participates in the festivities, which make Gatlinburg one of the best places to view Christmas lights.
The area is abounding with holiday spirit in daylight also with displays that keep the children happy as well as the adults visiting.
Welcome to Sevier County visitors, and residents, enjoy the holiday season with a drive around your county.
