The Seymour tennis team made it a clean sweep Monday of the Alcoa Tornadoes. About as clean it can get.
The Eagles and Lady Eagles both claimed 9-0 victories over the teams from Alcoa.
The Eagles picked up singles wins from Ryan Pierce (6-4), Kevin Byrne (6-3), Steven LeGrande (6-1), Jordan Lawson (6-2), Keaton Wingate (6-0) and Joe Garcia (6-1).
Doubles winners for Seymour included the teams of Peirce and Byrne (6-2), LeGrande and Lawson (6-2), as well as the fourth and fifth seeded doubles tandems whose names were unavailable.
The Lady Eagles’ ace Keely Moore had another impressive showing, taking a 6-2 singles win over her Alcoa counterpart. Other Lady Eagles’ singles winners included Maggie Dew (6-0), Megan England (7-5), Jennifer Wilson (6-2), Olva Basarab (6-2) and Holly Huskey (6-1).
The team of Moore and Dew took the number one seed doubles match 6-0. England and Wilson combined to win the second doubles match 6-2, and Abbey Atchley and Amy Drew picked up a doubles win by a score of 6-3.
