At approximately 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 13, 2007, Larry R., age 60, and Christopher R., age 32, Stacy of Blountville were seriously injured in a boating accident, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA).

            The accident occurred near the 422 river mile on the Watauga Arm of Boone Reservoir.  The 18 foot Bass Tracker, occupied by the Stacy's and traveling downstream, was involved in a collision with a 19 foot Javelin traveling upstream, occupied by Terry Hamm, age 47 of Johnson City, Richard Ellison, age 53 of Elizabethton, and Darrell W. Pierce, age of 44 of Johnson City.

            Several Good Samaritans responded to the accident.  The Stacy's were transported by a pontoon boat to Winged Deer Park where they were taken by Sullivan County EMS to Johnson City Medical Center.

            The incident continues to be under investigation by TWRA wildlife officers.

There will be a boating safety update at Winged Deer Park (at the pavilion near the boat ramp) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15.
