digitrax-studios-white-glowAnother sign of South Knox’s possible economic recovery made a mark this week as an entertainment company is slated to open a new location on Chapman Hwy.

DigiTrax Entertainment has announced the grand opening of their new SoKnox Studios in South Knoxville at 6520 Chapman Hwy., Suite D.

The opening will take place between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. April 8 at the company’s new Chapman-Ford Crossing address and will include musical performances and appearances by local figures.

SoKnox Studios is the audio and video production facility for DigiTrax Entertainment, a record label which released more than 360 songs in 2013. DigiTrax is also is currently preparing three mobile music apps for the entertainment and education markets.

Scheduled to perform at the event is gold and platinum, triple-Emmy-nominated songwriter and producer Mark Radice. Radice is best known for his work with a long roster of notable artists, including Jim Henson and Elmo, and serves as the Creative Director at Digitrax Entertainment.

DigiTrax studio gallery space is devoted to a rotating art exhibit currently spotlighting Knoxville people and places, as seen through the eyes of those who know it well such as local artists Brian Murray and Brian Wagner.

Also in attendance will be Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett and Vice Mayor Nick Pavlis, who represents the South Knox district on the City Council.

“I’m ecstatic that a business this size and of this magnitude is coming to South Knoxville,” said Pavlis, who also serves as Vice Mayor for the City of Knoxville. “For a City Councilman this is a dream come because you want businesses coming to your district. It’s exciting that an advanced company like this will be opening its doors in South Knoxville.”

Similarly, South Knoxville Business Alliance Chair Rebecca Husain said she is pleased to have a new addition to the community.

“We’re happy to have them move to South Knoxville,” Husain said. “The business alliance welcomes any new business to the area and we think they will make a great addition to the business community. Hopefully they will be in attendance at our next meeting.”

DigiTrax Entertainment, which is moving from Cedar Bluff Rd. in West Knoxville, is a strong advocate of the principles underlying the South Knoxville Alliance, which emphasizes revitalization, innovation, and cooperation amongst the business community in an effort to highlight the area’s unique natural resources and encourage positive development. The organization considers the area to be one of Knoxville’s greatest assets and fervently promotes its potential.
