recordStoreDay2014For music fans who can’t get enough of the warm sound of vinyl, Record Store Day is perhaps one of the most anticipated events in South Knoxville. Scheduled to be held April 19 with a start time of 12 p.m., Record Store Day will put the spotlight on rare vinyl available exclusively for the event.

The Disc Exchange, who will be hosting the event, currently has close to 400 releases listed for sale during Record Store Day. Additionally, there will be a handful of vinyl records for sale at the event that will not be available released to other retailers until the future. There will also be reduced prices and special buys on select CDs, DVDs, and used vinyl.

However, Record Store Day isn’t only about exclusive vinyl sales. There will be a celebration of community and  music lead by live local performances by Brandon Fulson & the Real Billys, Black Stone Cherry, Kelsey’s Woods, Gamenight, Split Family, Knaves, Echoes, Best Friend, and Lil’ Iffy.

In addition to live music, there will be onsite food vendors to add to the festivities. Record Store Day vendors this year will include Savory & Sweet Truck, Bull’s BBQ, Quizno’s, Farm to Griddle Crepes, and Three Bears Coffee.

First conceived in 2007, Record Store Day is an international celebration designed to promote independently owned record stores.

Disc Exchange is located at 2615 Chapman Hwy. For more information call 865-573-5710.
