Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals

In his tenure as Sheriff, Ron Seals has made stride after stride that has made Seymour and Sevier County a better and safer place to live.

With crash rates down, drug related arrests resulting in a high conviction rate, greater officer presence, and being named 2012 Sheriff of the year, it is hard to imagine anybody other than Seals in that position.

Dedicated, experienced, and with accomplishments that demonstrate proven leadership, Seals continues to strive to make improvements to the law enforcement of Sevier County.

Here is a highlight of some of the accomplishments Seals has achieved since in office.

  • In 2013, according to the State TITAN System reported traffic, crashes were down by 205 and crash related fatalities were down by 8 from 2012 primarily due to adding officers to the Traffic Unit through grants from the Governor’s Highway Safety Office
  • Since 2007, there were 959 drug related arrests with a conviction rate of 94%
  • The S.O.R.T. Unit (Special Operation Response Team) was formed and assists in high stress calls along with felony warrant arrests for safety reasons
  • In 2011, due to obtaining a C.O.P.S. grant, four (4) officers were added to the patrol division allowing for greater officer presence
  • Since 2007, due to Governor Highway Safety Office grants, a total of five (5) officers have been added to the Traffic Unit for greater presence and safety on the roadways
  • A full time position has been created for a Sex Offender Registry Compliance Officer to follow those on the Sex Offender Registry and to make sure they continue to comply with their restrictions
  • Another full time position has been created within the detective division for a Child Crime Investigator to fully investigate all crimes against children
  • A Chaplains program has been initiated to assist with the needs of the public and officers in times of crisis
  • An officer has been assigned to the Smoky Mountain U.S. Marshall Service Task Force to assist in tracking fugitives
  • Enhancement has been made to the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office Fire Marshall’s position through extensive training and certification
  • We have participated with General Sessions in the Intensive Public Service Program through county trash pick up with no cost of incarceration
  • A grant was obtained to purchase Child Passenger Seats for those who cannot afford them and most all of our School Resource Officers have been certified as Child Passenger Safety Seat Technicians
  • In 2012 I was given the distinct honor of being named ‘Sheriff of the Year’ by the Tennessee Sheriff’s Association
  • On January 30, 2014 the Sheriff’s Office was presented the ‘Certificate of Meritorious Accreditation’ and became a State Accredited agency.
