Officers fired two shots at a suspect on Friday after being threatened by a rifle.
According to reports from the Knoxville Police Department, at 10:33 p.m., KPD officer Zach Wilson and his trainee, Tyler Harmon, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle containing two males. Reports show that the passenger exited the vehicle and began to run, producing a rifle and pointing it at Officer Wilson. Wilson pulled his duty weapon and fired two shots at the suspect and the suspect dropped his gun, reports show. The suspect did not appear to be injured, as he then jumped a wall and fled on foot. The driver of the vehicle also fled on foot, reports show. The suspects were black males and one was wearing a white hoodie while the other had a grey hoodie. The investigation is ongoing.
