HERALD BUSINESS

South Knox Healing Arts is a business in South Knoxville that offers massage therapy to the community.
The owner, Evelyn Anne Barnette, stated that she decided to open her business in South Knoxville because she lives there and loves the area, and, because she “realized there weren’t any places you could go in South Knoxville to get a quality massage.”
Since opening in Jan. of 2015, Barnette has expanded her company’s services. Barnette stated that South Knox Healing Arts “just started last October offering yoga and meditation consults.”
There are several different classes and sessions that visitors can attend at South Knox Healing Arts. Mondays from 12:15 –1:15 p.m. there is a donations based yoga class. Participants can donate whatever amount fits their budget in order to take part in this session.
On Tuesdays at 9 a.m. there is a paid yoga class for retirees. Fridays from 9 – 10 a.m. there is a paid yoga class for the general public. On Saturdays from 9 a.m. – noon there are Good Morning Meditation sessions in half hour and hour long increments.
Drop-ins are welcome at all of the yoga sessions; however, all massages and Good Morning Meditation sessions are by appointment only. One Yoga class is $20, but customers can also purchase a five class punch card for $80 and a ten class punch card for $150.
For someone who has never had a professional massage before, the thought can be daunting. However, Barnette assured that, “a massage is never supposed to hurt,” and that, “massage therapy is great for relieving achy muscles after a workout and relaxing places that are always tight.” Barnette noted that all of South Knox Healing Art’s massages are personalized to the individual, and there is no need to fear that the masseuse would go deeper than what someone is comfortable with.
