If it had been a boxing match it would have been stopped early but it wasn’t and the Seymour Lady Eagles basketball team routed the Gibbs Lady Eagles by a score of 62-26 at Seymour.
The onslaught was led by Aebri Graham with 19 points and Maci Pitner with 18. It was as if someone took the roof off the gym and it was raining threes as Seymour poured in seven in the first quarter alone. Pitner accounted for four of them while Graham added two and Katelyn Waggoner one.
The Lady Eagles led 25-8 only eight minutes into the game and it only got worse for Gibbs as Seymour led 47-13 at halftime. The Lady Eagles led 54-14 in the third. In the third quarter, Pitner scored four points and Graham hit another 3-pointer and that was all the Lady Eagles scored in the third.
“I’m very proud of our girls tonight,” Seymour coach Amy James said. “Minus one player, tonight was the first time we have had the majority of our team healthy and injury free. We came out in the first half and Maci (Pitner) and Aebri (Graham) put on a shooting demonstration. Every player contributed in this win. I hope we carry this momentum into the next game.”
Other than Pitner and Graham, Delany Duck finished with eight points while Kallyn Newport, Jaylee Griffin and Lexi Hughett added four points apiece.
The win gives the Lady Eagles a record of 8 and 16 overall while the loss makes Gibbs 1 and 20.
