The Seymour Eagles and Coach Tony Buell can’t seem to catch a break as they lost another contest by one point to the Morristown East Hurricanes by a score of 47-46 in Morristown.
Connor Jordan gave his team the win on a running one hander with three seconds left in the game. Seymour built a 10 point lead in the third quarter but saw it melt to five 35-30 going into the fourth quarter.
The Hurricanes took an early lead in the first quarter 12-7 but the Eagles trimmed that to 22-21 by halftime.
“These guys are playing very hard,” Buell said. “We just came up a little short. We had a 10 point lead in the third quarter but East cut it to five going into the fourth. Jordan hit that shot with three seconds when we were leading by one. If it weren’t for bad luck we would have no luck at all. We battled back after some halftime adjustments and were up five in the fourth but had a few shots run out late.”
Ryan Lee led the Eagles in scoring with 14 followed by Zach Wyatt with 10 and Famous White with seven.
The loss makes Seymour 9-12 overall and 1-9 in District 2-AAA play while Morristown East is 16-8 and 8-2.
